Royals' win is manager Trey Hillman's final game

Trey Hillman became the first manager to get fired this season when the Kansas City Royals let him go Thursday -- a decision that was announced after the Royals ended a seven-game losing streak with a 6-4 victory over the Cleveland Indians.
Former Milwaukee manager Ned Yost, who joined the Royals' front office in January, immediately took over.
Thursday's victory left Kansas City at 12-23 and still last in the AL Central. Hillman was told of the decision Thursday morning and given the option of managing the game, which he accepted.
"I'm thankful for the opportunity to get to manage today," Hillman said. "You don't want to go out on a seven-game losing streak."
Hillman, who had been criticized at times for his handling of the bullpen and in-game decisions, was 152-207 in two-plus seasons with the Royals, including 12-23 this year.
"There won't be any second-guessing," he said. "I have the ultimate respect for the people I work for, but to put it into perspective, sometimes things in this business work and sometimes they don't."
Royals ace Zack Greinke, last year's AL Cy Young winner, who had been 0-4 and winless in seven starts, finally got some run support, keyed by Alberto Callaspo's three-run homer in the fourth.
TEXAS 2, OAKLAND 1 (12 INNINGS): Vladimir Guerrero delivered an RBI single in the 12th inning for the host Rangers. Guerrero was 0-for-5 before lining a shot deep into the left-center gap off closer Andrew Bailey (0-1).
BALTIMORE 6, SEATTLE 5: Luke Scott hit a grand slam to cap a five-run eighth inning and the host Orioles held on to beat Seattle when leftfielder Corey Patterson nailed Josh Wilson at the plate for the final out. Wilson tried to score from second on Ichiro Suzuki's single. Patterson hit a leadoff homer in the eighth to start the comeback from a 5-1 deficit.
