Strauss half century become England’s victory

In the 3rd ODI match Andrew Strauss seal the series against Australia. England won the match by 1 wicket, Strauss hit half century which is become the England victory.

Andrew Strauss said watching his side survive a collapse before scraping a one-wicket win over Australia with five balls left was a “horrendous” feeling.

England’s victory ended world champions Australia’s run of seven straight one-day series and tournament wins following their 3-2 loss in South Africa last year.

England were all set to romp home at 185-3, needing 213 for an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

While Strauss, with 87, provided the main thrust for England’s batting at Old Trafford, the victory was set up by the bowlers who dismissed Australia for their lowest score so far in the series.

Anderson ended the innings with a burst of three for five in seven balls.

The series continues with a day/nighter at The Oval on Wednesday.
