New Delhi: Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is the brand ambassador of some of the leading names, has signed a new endorsement deal worth a whopping sum of 200 crore rupees.
Dhoni, who recently got married to childhood sweetheart Sakshi Rawat, has reportedly signed the 3-year deal with a talent management companynamed Rhiti Sports Management and Mindscapes One.
As per the deal, the company will manage all of Dhoni’s brand associations including digital rights, images and visibility on social networking websites.
Confirming the development, Rhiti Sports General Manager (Operations) Sanjay Pandey said as per the agreement, the company will be looking after Dhoni`s entire spectrum of endorsements.
“Yes, we have entered into a two-year contract with Dhoni for Rs 200 crore. We have signed the contract a week back. From now onwards we will be handling Dhoni`s endorsements,” Pandey said.
The new deal takes Mahi past batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who had earlier held the record for the most pricey endorsement deal signed by an Indian cricketer. Tendulkar had struck a deal worth 180 crore with management company Iconix in 2006.
This is not the first time Rhiti Sports has signed a deal with an Indian cricketer as the firm also manages Harbhajan and RP Singh.
According to a report in Forbes magazine, Dhoni is the highest earning cricketer in the world having raked in USD 10 million last year including 8 million coming from endorsements alone.
Earlier, Dhoni’s endorsements were managed by Mindscapes while the responsibility of managing the digital rights was shared by several companies.
