Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) was founded according to the Orissa Higher Secondary Education Act 1982. It looks after the regulation and development of the Higher Secondary Education in the state. The administrative task of the Council started from September 7 in 1982 and it first functioned in a rented building in Goutam Nagar.
The Council built its administrative building in Samantapur, Bhubaneswar after few years. Since 2nd January 1996 the Council is working from its own building named “PRAJNAPITHA”.
CHSE conducts higher secondary level examination for Orissa’s students.
